Marlon's artworkMy designs frequently follow studies of the natural world. Using old 55 gallon barrels for their special combination of metal alloys, I can develop multi-dimensional artwork that conveys movement, even muscle tone. There is something truly special about how the hammer reacts with the barrel stock. Whales, shorebirds, and kelp all seem as if you have caught them in a moment in time, right there in their natural element.
I am very experimental, and often try out new, sometimes risky techniques in my work. Sometimes it’s required that I make my own tools to create a certain effect or add a new metal to the piece. Knowing the properties of metals allows me the freedom to not only play around, but to face new challenges. This is reflected in my artwork.
